This English-born son of Scottish parents was preceded by 5 sisters and followed by a brother in Rawtenstall, Lancashire on the gentle eastern slopes of the Pennines. But that’s not important right now. Important is, that after living in England, the United States and the Netherlands, and becoming the Shakespeare expert by memorising all sonnets of the great playwight, William was the first native English-speaking comedian in the Netherlands in 1995. Stand-up comedy wasn’t well known in the Netherlands when he started but over 400 shows later (many of which were in the Comedy Café in Amsterdam) William has proven that both comedy and he himself are here to stay.
